TERMS & CONDITIONS
Welcome to Tuina Therapy (accessible via www.tuina.scot). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website and the booking and receipt of manual therapy services provided by Peter Conrad (“the Therapist”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) at Alba Therapy Clinic, 8 Lauriston Street, Edinburgh, EH3 9DJ.
By accessing this website and/or booking an appointment, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully.
1. Services Provided
1.1. We provide Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) manual therapy, specifically Tuina (massage, mobilisation, structural alignment), Fire Cupping, and Moxibustion (heat therapy).
1.2. All treatments are holistic in nature and intended to support physical and mental well-being, mobility, and recovery.
2. Medical Disclaimer & Client Responsibility
2.1. Not a Substitute for Medical Advice: Tuina, cupping, and moxa are complementary therapies. They do not replace conventional medical diagnosis, treatment, or advice from a qualified medical doctor (GP) or consultant.
2.2. Honest Disclosure: You agree to provide a full, accurate, and up-to-date health history during your initial consultation. You must inform the Therapist of any pre-existing medical conditions, allergies, injuries, pregnancies, or medications.
2.3. Treatment Risks:
Cupping: You acknowledge that fire cupping involves suction that may leave temporary red or dark marks on the skin. These are a normal physiological response to the treatment and typically fade within a few days to a week.
Moxibustion: You acknowledge that moxa involves heat application. While every precaution is taken, minor thermal reactions or skin sensitivity can occur.
2.4. Right to Refuse Treatment: The Therapist reserves the right to refuse or modify treatment if a condition is deemed a contraindication, or if it is unsafe to proceed without GP approval.
3. Bookings, Fees, and Payments
3.1. Booking System: All appointments are scheduled through our third-party provider (Setmore) linked via our website.
3.2. Fees: Prices for treatments are clearly stated at the time of booking. We reserve the right to alter fees, but any changes will not affect bookings already confirmed.
3.3. Payment: Payment can be made online via our booking portal or as otherwise agreed at the clinic.
4. Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy
4.1. We understand that plans change; however, as a dedicated clinical practice, late cancellations significantly impact our schedule.
4.2. Cancellation Notice: If you need to cancel or reschedule, you must provide at least 24 hours’ notice prior to your appointment time.
4.3. Late Cancellations & No-Shows: Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, or failure to attend a scheduled appointment (“no-show”), may result in a charge equal to 100% of the treatment fee.
4.4. Late Arrivals: If you arrive late, your session may be shortened to accommodate appointments scheduled after yours. The full treatment fee will still apply.
5. Code of Conduct and Safety
5.1. Mutual Respect: We operate a safe, professional, and respectful environment. Any form of aggressive, inappropriate, or sexually suggestive language or behavior will result in the immediate termination of the session. The full fee will be forfeited, and future bookings will be barred.
5.2. Under 18s: Clients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must provide written consent and remain present during the treatment.
6. Limitation of Liability
6.1. To the maximum extent permitted by Scots Law, Peter Conrad / Tuina Therapy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use of this website or the services provided.
6.2. We hold comprehensive Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance as required by professional regulatory bodies (e.g., The Acupuncture Society).
7. Privacy and Data Protection
7.1. We take your privacy seriously. All personal details and clinical medical notes are kept securely and confidentially in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
7.2. Your clinical records will never be shared with third parties without your explicit written consent, unless required by law.
8. Governing Law
8.1. These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
9. Changes to Terms
9.1. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
